This is not news gathering or reporting. It is storytelling, it is poetry, it is prose, with humans (as opposed to the economy) at the heart of our process. We believe that what makes us strong are the things that make us interesting to one another: our capacity for love in spite of our circumstances, our capacity for empathy, a sense of what is decent and fair, and our ability to act upon these things. There’s also the darkness that falls across us in times like this. We need to look that squarely in the eye without flinching, and engage with that.

The Filmmakers
Pandemic Voices is a collaboration between a team of filmmakers.
Darrin Baker Executive Producer/Director
Darrin lives in a yellow house under the flight path in Marrickville, Sydney. He likes to make films, because it’s fun (and sometimes difficult) and if you make them well enough, people will sit still long enough to watch them, and find something in it for them. He likes a lot of other things in life, for example hot chips, but we won’t go into that right now.
Nick Payne Producer/Director
Director/cinematographer from Marrickville, Australia. Plays well with music videos, short films, documentaries, product photography, and others. From shooting silent Super 8 in high school through to Super VHS in the 90’s and now living in a whole new digital world. Looking forward to listening to and telling the story of the impact of COVID-19 on the lives of locals living in the Inner West.
Justine Wahlin Director
Justine has directed and produced multiple music videos to accompany songs from her musical releases, all with a strong focus on narrative. Her love of music and poetry have joined her love of other multimedia art forms including painting, hand drawn animation and stop animation and together they take a deep dive into the world of moving pictures.
Lyn Taylor Director
Lyn has been a photographer since 2001 and in a band since 2006. This is her passion. She's inspired by photographers such as Annie Leibovitz, and musicians like Lukas Nelson. She believes that art, music and imagery are intertwined to communicate to others an emotion... a message.
Steve Connolly Director
Steve was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. From an early age he become involved with music, and spent his teenage years playing in garage bands. His interest in film making was sparked in 2005 when he made a documentary of his grandfather’s experience in WW2. Since then Steve’s been living in Sydney, Australia working on various film and music projects.
Regina Botros Director
Regina is a radio producer and artist. She loves the documentary form and has worked across many mediums, including radio, theatre, dance, film, music and poetry. She believes that art allows us to connect in ways beyond the literal and this is important now more than ever.
